What is AMBC?
The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club (AMBC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building, maintaining, and advocating for natural surface trails in and around Knoxville, Tennessee. Since 2007, we’ve created over 100 miles of trail and built a vibrant community of riders, runners, hikers, and volunteers. Our mission goes beyond trail building – we’re here to connect people to nature, to each other, and to the power of outdoor recreation.
We are a chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA), who empowers over 45 chapters in eight states to create and sustain access to exceptional trails that strengthen communities and connect people across the Southeast.
What is Fall Fest?
Fall Fest is AMBC’s annual homecoming – a celebration of trails, community, and the people who make it all happen. Each year, folks from across the country (and even around the world!) come together in Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness for group rides, live music, local food, beer, a massive raffle, and one of the best silent auctions!
It’s more than just a party – it’s our biggest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds support AMBC’s mission to build, maintain, and advocate for trails while expanding access to the outdoors through key programs like Trail Blazers, Joy Ride, Social Rides, Monthly Work Parties, Volunteer Sawyers, and our Trail Crew.
Whether you’re showing up to ride, volunteer, dance, or just hang out – Fall Fest is for you!!!
Where is Fall Fest? Where do I park?
Fall Fest is located in South Knoxville at Baker Creek Preserve and Urban Wilderness Gateway Park.
Follow signs to parking areas – Parking is available for free at Baker Creek Bottoms overflow lot, the South Doyle Middle School lot (school lot available after 5 pm on Friday), and the Urban Gateway Park lot under Sevierville Pike at the end of James White Parkway.
Accessible parking is reserved at 1652 Tilson Street at the corner of Tilson Street and Taylor Road.
Please be a good neighbor and avoid parking in the neighborhood.
Can we camp overnight?
Yes, look for signage; we offer free camping onsite. You may camp in the designated camping area at Urban Wilderness Gateway Park, or you may park and camp in your vehicle overnight at South Doyle Middle School’s lot (school lot available after 5 pm on Friday).
*No services are provided with the exception of portable toilets and hand wash stations. Fires are not allowed and everyone should plan to clean up after themselves. No reservations will be taken nor any fees charged. We are in an urban area and for that reason, we ask you to limit the noise at your camp. For more formal camping please consider other options or spring for a hotel downtown, it’s just an uber away!
Other camping and glamping options:
- Low Meadows Farm campground (AMBC members get 15% off your stay)
- The Drop Inn
Is Fall Fest free?
Yes, AMBC’s Fall Fest is a free event! However, we recommend being prepared to spend money on food and drinks, our bike raffle, AMBC merch, bike shuttles, and donations. AMBC accepts card, cash, and Venmo, but our vendor may accept card only or card and cash.
This is AMBC’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and all proceeds go to support our mission to build, maintain, and advocate for trails while expanding access to the outdoors through local programs.
Is Fall Fest kid-friendly?
Yes, most of Fall Fest is kid-friendly! We offer kids rides including a kids strider race for the little ones and mountain bike rides for the more adventurous ones. We always have a kids stations with fun activities throughout the day on Saturday.
Please do note that we sell alcohol at Fall Fest, and it can get a bit rowdier at night with live music and dancing. However, we have many kids stay late and enjoy the park play areas with their friends!
Can I bring my pet to Fall Fest?
Fall Fest is a busy, loud, bike-filled event with lots of people and sounds – so we wouldn’t call it pet-friendly. While pets are technically allowed in the area, we wouldn’t recommend bringing your fur baby to this one.
Is Fall Fest for mountain bikers only?
Nope! Fall Fest is open to anyone and everyone who wants to join in on the fun. It’s a great experience for bikers and non-bikers alike, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know others in the community and connect with the local organizations and outdoor programs.
What is the weather policy?
Fall Fest is on rain, shine, snow, or cold! While we may have to adjust ride schedules due to weather and trail conditions, we will still have Fall Fest and hope our community will join us in whatever weather comes our way!
